To foster awareness, understanding, research, preservation, and recognition of history in Jackson County and Illinois
Our Purpose
To serve as a research repository for individuals conducting personal or professional research and to provide assistance to researchers – both locally and nationwide.
To discover and collect material which may help establish or illustrate the history of Jackson County – its exploration, settlement, development, activities in peace and war, and progress in population, wealth, education, arts, science and industry.
To preserve historical monuments and memorabilia pertaining to the history of the County; to disseminate information resulting from historical research projects; and to encourage citizens in acquiring a greater awareness of, and interest in, the history of Jackson County.
